The Springvale Winter Fest returned on 21 June 2026, transforming Buckingham Avenue into a vibrant winter playground. After days of rain, clear sunny weather lifted the festive atmosphere, drawing locals out to enjoy winter-themed entertainment, multicultural food stalls, snow experiences, bumper cars, and husky dog interactions.
The Falun Dafa booth featured a prominent blue display with a peaceful presence amid the busy festival grounds. Practitioners demonstrated the five exercises accompanied by gentle music, while offering Chinese and English materials about the practice, including copies of Zhuan Falun. Children were invited to take part in snowflake paper-cutting activities, which proved popular throughout the day.
Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, is a high-level Buddhist cultivation practice created by Master Li Hongzhi. On 13 May 1992, Master Li Hongzhi first introduced Falun Dafa to the public, and within just a few years it attracted hundreds of millions of practitioners worldwide, with countless accounts of improved health and moral elevation. Falun Dafa is always taught free of charge, and all teaching materials can be downloaded freely online.
“These characters feel beautiful — they make one sense calm and peace. Modern society has become so competitive, and people seem less kind. This is something we really need.”
— Kimberly Castiello, Local Government Worker
Tina Said and her husband Tamer Soliman, local residents, expressed strong interest in learning the practice after visiting the booth.
“I noticed it can relieve stress. My husband faces a lot of pressure, so when I saw this, I thought we need to learn more.”
