Keysborough’s Big Picnic 2025, hosted by the City of Greater Dandenong at Frederick Wachter Reserve, drew large crowds on Easter eve, 13 April 2025. Alongside egg hunts, pet competitions, live music, and arts and crafts, Falun Dafa practitioners set up an information booth and offered exercise demonstrations to curious visitors throughout the day.

“I think Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance are principles that everyone in the world should follow. If we could all do this, there would be no wars.”

— Nicole Pegrum, Bank Manager

Bank manager Nicole Pegrum stopped at the booth to learn about Falun Dafa. She said every principle the practitioners mentioned was amazing, and that being kind, honest, compassionate, and empathetic were values she already tried to live by. She reflected that living in Australia was the best embodiment of freedom, because Australians truly have freedom of speech — “that’s why Australia is called ‘the lucky country.’” She was saddened to hear about the persecution in China, and praised practitioners for spreading these values.

“Really amazing! I feel very relaxed, both physically and mentally.”

— Gurminder Singh, IT Engineer

IT engineer Gurminder Singh tried the exercises on the spot and was immediately drawn to the practice. He called the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance “universal values” and said practitioners were doing something very meaningful by spreading them. He was saddened to hear of the persecution in China, saying it was “very unfortunate” and that “anyone suppressing this belief is bad for humanity.” As a father, Singh said he hoped to teach his children the exercises, and if he ever returned to India, he would be very willing to promote Falun Dafa there.

“These principles are good, very good, excellent!”

— Ingrid Perumal, Retired Care Worker

Retired care worker Ingrid Perumal, with over twenty years of experience in the field, drew on her own life to affirm the importance of each principle. She believed that “Forbearance” in life was “very important, especially important,” and said with deep feeling:

“Even if you are angry, keep the anger in your heart and give it to God; you cannot vent your anger on others.”

— Ingrid Perumal, Retired Care Worker

She closed with a heartfelt blessing for the practitioners: “May God bless you, grant you more wisdom and strength to continue what you’re doing. I’m very grateful for everything you’ve done.”
